Why Does My App Close When I Disconnect from the Cloud PC?

When using V2 Cloud, your cloud computer continues to run 24/7 — even after you disconnect. However, some applications will stop working or close as soon as you log off or lose connection. This is typically due to how the app handles user sessions and unattended operation.

❓ What Does “Unattended Use” Mean?

Unattended use refers to an application’s ability to continue running without an active user session. Some apps are designed to close or pause if the session becomes inactive — for example, when:

  • You close the Remote Desktop or browser tab.
  • You manually sign out of Windows.

In these cases, even though your cloud computer stays on, your app might require the Windows user session to stay open to remain active.

⚠️ Apps That Require Active Sessions

Certain licensed or third-party applications are session-aware, meaning they stop running unless:

  • A user is actively signed in.
  • The session remains unlocked and active.

For example:

  • QuickBooks Desktop requires multi-user setup or a hosting mode to remain open for remote users.
  • Dropbox or OneDrive sync may pause without an active session.
  • POS systems or accounting apps might require "unattended" licenses to keep running without a user.

✅ What Can You Do?

  • Check if your app offers an unattended access mode or server-mode license.
  • Make sure your session remains connected if required.
Contact your software vendor to ask about support for background operation or headless mode.
  • Configure them to run as a service (possible with certain apps only)
  • Contact your app vendor if this is a SaaS app.
