Can I Upgrade My Windows Version on My Cloud PC?
This article explains the limitations of upgrading the Windows version on your cloud virtual machine (VM), whether you’re using a Single-User VM (Windows 10/11) or a Windows Server VM. It also outlines what we can do to help if you need a newer version.
🧍 Single-User VMs (Windows 10/11)
❌ OS Upgrades Are Not Supported
We do not support upgrading from:
- Windows 10 to Windows 11
🖥️ Windows Server VMs
❌ Direct Upgrades Are Not Supported
We cannot upgrade Windows Server VMs from:
- 2012 → 2016 / 2019 / 2022, or
- Any other major version-to-version transition
✅ What We Can Do
We will:
- Set up a new server with your desired version (free of charge)
- Coordinate a time that works for you to migrate your data
- Keep the old server active while you complete the transfer
What the Process Looks Like
- You let us know the version you’d like to upgrade to.
- We’ll create a new VM with the requested Windows version at no cost.
- We’ll coordinate with you to give enough time to move your data and applications.
- Once you confirm everything has been migrated, we’ll retire the old VM.
